Despite the fact that people with type 1 diabetes can eat anything, there are some foods that are harmful to us. If a loved one has T1D, we must refrain from feeding them these foods.

Certain food overdoses can result in an uncontrollably high blood sugar spike, which makes them extremely dangerous. If your blood sugar stays over 200 mg/dl, you get weak and have health problems like nerve damage.

1. Rice

Because rice is high in carbohydrates, eating foods made with rice or rice flour can cause our blood sugar levels to rise quickly. Even insulin cannot quickly bring our blood sugar levels back down.

Therefore, rice and products containing rice should be avoided.

2. Added Sugar

Whatever you buy, turn the packet and read the nutritional contents. Check if there’s any added sugar in the item you are going to eat.

Then, make sure you eat less of these things that have added sugar in them.

We have to take care of our health, and we have to be conscious of what we are putting into this body.

3. Potato

Again, I am sorry, but the king of the vegetables is rich in carbohydrates. It’s one of the tastiest veggies and used in almost all famous fast foods like french fries, burgers, chips, etc.

Well, it doesn’t mean potatoes are not nutritional; normal people can eat them.

4. Cold Drinks

Yes, we are talking about those famous non-alchoholic carbonated drinks that are offered at parties these days.

First, they damage our liver and it’s function.

We must avoid consumption of such drinks at any cost. Healing is not easy in type 1 diabetes.

5. Bananas

Evidently, bananas are high in carbohydrates. Eating one average-sized banana can add 23 grams of carbs to your body.

Again, it’s not super dangerous, but avoiding it is better, and it can be taken occasionally, like half a banana once a week if you are taking a diet once a week. There are no set rules; just ask your doctor and see what works.

6. Mango

Again, did you guess this one as well? Yes, mago is a fruit that is high in sugar and carbohydrates. People with type 1 diabetes should avoid eating it because it will raise their blood sugar levels.

Then, you may wonder, what else can you eat instead of a mango? The answer is Kiwi.

As we have seen already, in any situation we have to avoid increasing our glucose levels because that will shorten our life span. You may find this repetitive, but it is my way of telling you a simple philosophy of self-control.

7. Sauces

Recently, I was at a pizza hut and my sugar levels were low, so I was eating a veggie pizza and I added some sauce to it, which eventually led to a high, and I was wondering what went wrong when I realized that sauce had added sugars.

8. Deep Fried Stuff

One day a friend of mine who is type 1 diabetic went to eat fried chicken, and then his sugar levels were at 400 mg/dl. So, I asked him, What did you do differently this time?

Obviously, he replied, I used to eat roasted chicken, and this time I ate deep-fried. So, always avoid the oily stuff.

9. Dairy

Evidently, dairy contains a sugar called lactose, and both type 1 and type 2 people are at high risk of cardiovascular diseases. That is why we must not spike our glucose levels too much and keep them under 200 mg/dl.

Still, you can eat dairy products such as yogurt for gut health; just avoid adding sugars and eat moderately.

Conclusion

Of course we know what to eat and what not to, but the bigger challenge is self-control and patience. We must know that getting more sick is not the option, and it is not a good idea to ruin our health for the temporary pleasure of the toungue.

Thanks for reading.
