Hello and welcome to I Am Type One!

I am so glad you are here.

Who Am I? My name is Ujjwal Chaturvedi, and I am a Type 1 diabetic, a Certified Nutritionist, a Writer, and someone who loves to sit under tree shade on a sunny day to read books and watch birds. I was diagnosed at 13, and ever since life has been a series of ups and downs, rights and lefts, bittersweet moments, learning experiences, and personal growth.

I have discovered over the years that controlling Type 1 diabetes involves more than just insulin dosage and carbohydrate counts. It’s a never-ending management job; it’s about resilience, understanding, and finding balance in everyday life.

Why I Started This Blog? Over the years, I faced lots of problems living in India with this chronic (lifelong) illness. I searched and searched over the Internet desperately needing answers. While there is information out there, I often found myself craving more personal experiences and stories that reflect the true journey of living with this condition.

That’s why I started this blog, I Am Type One—to share my story, insights, experiences, and lessons I’ve learned along the way. My hope is that this blog becomes a supportive space where fellow Type 1 diabetics can find comfort, encouragement, and practical advice based on my own hands-on experiences and education about this condition.

What You Will Find Here? I post a variety of content related to living with Type 1 diabetes, including:

  • Mental Health: I write a lot about self-healing depression and anxiety.
  • Tips and Tricks: Practical advice on blood sugar management, navigating social situations, traveling, and handling unexpected challenges.
  • Diet and Nutrition: I am a Certified Nutritionist myself, so I write here about how the right food can heal your body.
  • Other Chronic Illnesses: Mostly those conditions that do not have a cure yet and need active management.

Join The Conversation: It gets very lonely and depressing with this condition. That’s why I believe in the power of community and friends. Share your thoughts, ideas, and stories in the comments section of the posts and let the conversation flow. You can also follow this blog on Pinterest and engage with the community.

Thank You For Being Here: It really means a lot to welcome new readers to my blog. Whether you are newly diagnosed, have been managing diabetes for years, or are supporting a loved one, please know that you’re not alone. Together, we can navigate the challenges and celebrate the triumphs that come with living a full and vibrant life with Type 1 diabetes.

Warmly, Ujjwal Chaturvedi
